Cheryl is the parent of two violinists who have been performing with The Happiness Factory since early 2023. She has served as Director and Treasurer of the Board since October 2024. Through her family’s involvement, Cheryl has seen firsthand the joy and connection that live music brings to audiences of all ages, and she is deeply committed to supporting The Happiness Factory’s mission of enriching the lives of older adults by bringing young musicians into their communities.

Cheryl is an active leader and longtime volunteer in the New York City school community. She currently serves as a Trustee and Chair of the Buildings Committee at the Lycée Français de New York and as a Trustee at The Washington Market School. She previously served as Co-President of the Lycée Parents Association for four years. As a dedicated parent volunteer, Cheryl supports nonprofit and educational organizations in areas including finance, facilities, strategic planning, communications, and inclusion and belonging initiatives.

Originally from Hong Kong, Cheryl attended high school in Vancouver and earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics from Cornell University in 1995. She is a CFA charter holder with professional experience in derivative trading and asset management at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, and Columbia Management, as well as in fintech startups Blackbird and SwapsWire.

Passionate about music, food, travel, and sustainability, Cheryl is enthusiastic about supporting The Happiness Factory and believes her background in finance, nonprofit operations, and community engagement allows her to contribute meaningfully to the organization’s continued growth and impact.
